Kamikamikaeshi, Takemika, the Kami of Swords, Volume 2

An imprisoned shrine maiden, Mashiro is responsible for performing a Shinto ritual called Kamigamigaeshi. She runs away to be free, but Midori, a kamikirishi and her pursuer from the main Kamitsuka family, attacks her!! Takemika, the kami of swords appears to save Mashiro in a crisis. Meanwhile the shadow of a mysterious girl who is referred to as “Hope” hovers around the Kamitsuka residence … ?!

IN this volume, Ema Toyama really starts to develop and explain the history surrounding the kami in Japan. The importance of different temples and shrines and the practice of Shinto becomes a little more clear. Of course all of this rich history is embedded in the story that at times is a harrowing experience for Mashiro and her companions who would certainly be lost without the help and guidance of kami. As translators and editors it has been exciting to see the story unfold  and continue on this exciting journey with a young miko and her friends.
